UrbanGrowth NSW chief executive David Pitchford has been appointed professor of practice in the University of NSW’s Faculty of Built Environment, a role he will manage in addition to his regular role.
Mr Pitchford has over 35 years of experience across government and the private sector in a range of executive roles, and is an expert in major projects delivery. His previous roles include chief executive of the UK Major Projects Authority, general manager of the Palm Jumierah Development in Dubai, and chief executive of the City of Melbourne.
“Universities have some of the best and brightest minds, and I am excited to have the opportunity to share first hand experiences and lessons with them about world class urban transformation,” Mr Pitchford said.
“I am honoured and delighted to accept this role and intend to make a life-long contribution to the University of NSW as a professor of practice.”
UrbanGrowth NSW this year secured a Universities Framework Agreement with Western Sydney University, the University of Newcastle, the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales, the University of Technology Sydney and Macquarie University.
“Designed to encourage cross institutional collaboration and cooperation, the Universities Framework Agreement recognises that the best way to achieve innovative and world class outcomes on urban transformation projects is to work closely with those at the forefront of research and thinking,” Mr Pitchford said.
“It’s an incredibly exciting opportunity to align the goals of multiple organisations and achieve fantastic outcomes for students, academics and NSW.”
