19 June 2014 — Dr Rocio Bona has left her position as sustainability manager development at Mirvac to join Curtin University as strategic asset planning principal, leading the planning and design of the physical environment.
From 1 July, Dr Bona will be responsible for ensuring the university campus has the capacity to grow in a sustainable manner. Dr Bona said that planning underpinned the university’s integrated model for capital works, operational building performance and asset management by ensuring a fully coordinated approach to existing and proposed development.
Dr Bona brings 15 years’ experience across a broad range of building design, masterplanning, sustainability and corporate responsibility functions, working with educational, public and private sector organisations across a number of asset categories including residential, commercial, health and institutional in countries such as Australia, Canada, Mexico, Indonesia and the US.
She joined Mirvac in 2008, and a year later became a year later their first national sustainability manager within the development division, where she played a key role in driving improved performance across projects and implemented measures instrumental in positioning Mirvac as a sustainability leader, including its inclusion in the World Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
