12 February 2014 — Carbon credit global trading platform Carbon trade Exchange has appointed Peter Hawkes as as chief general counsel and Mia Mather as operations manager.
Mr Hawkes has 15 years of legal experience and expertise in the development and operation of carbon, renewable energy certificates and water markets in Australia and internationally.
He will be responsible for overseeing the legal and compliance activities of CTX, government affairs and implementing a global licensing strategy. Before joining CTX, Mr Hawkes was a partner at law firm Herbert Geer, heading their clean energy and carbon law team.

“His carbon experience, from the very beginning of the global carbon markets, is rare, and as CTX expands into RECs and other environmental credits his depth of knowledge in law and practical application will be invaluable.”
Ms Mather will be responsible for managing all new member applications, back office processes for the exchange platform operations, foreign exchange aspects of the clearance and settlement process and ensuring organisational effectiveness across the business and all platform.

CTX has members in 25 countries and is headquartered in Sydney, with offices in London and San Francisco.
