Executive director of the Residential Development Council Nick Proud has been appointed to the board of Livable Housing Australia.

LHA executive director Amelia Starr said Mr Proud’s contribution to the board would expand the body’s influence and engagement with the residential development sector.

“Nick understands the challenges facing the housing industry – and the opportunities presented by livable, lifespan-friendly homes,” Ms Starr said. “We look forward to Nick’s contribution to LHA and a more livable future for all Australians.”

Prior to his appointment at the Residential Development Council in February 2014, Mr Proud held technical and policy roles in a variety of organisations including the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council and the Housing Industry Association.

Mr Proud welcomed LHA’s work to establish a nationally consistent approach to livable design.

“The industry’s leaders understand that a livable home is simply good design that meets the needs of all Australians,” Mr Proud said.

“Our industry has many great examples of livable housing product, but the developers have been quietly focused on getting their product to market. Our challenge – and our opportunity – is to shine a light on the livable housing product that can be achieved in the absence of regulation.”
