The Victorian Andrews government has announced changes to its ministry that sees Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio add Environment, Climate Change and Suburban Development to her portfolio.
Ms D’Ambrosio will focus on renewable energy, energy efficiency and combatting the effects of climate change, and will develop a five-year plans for jobs, services and infrastructure, a government release said.
The Grattan Institute’s energy program director Tony Wood said combining energy with climate created an opportunity for cohesion at a critical time for both areas in Victoria.
In other changes, former Environment and Climate Change Minister Lisa Neville will take on the Police portfolio, though holds on to responsibility for water. Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan will also take on Major Projects.
“These changes strengthen the Government’s focus on the issues that matter to the Victorian people – jobs, major projects and law and order,” Premier Daniel Andrews said.
