Former deputy chief executive of the South Australian Department of Planning Transport and Infrastructure John Hanlon has been appointed new chief executive of Renewal SA.
Mr Hanlon has been part of the leadership team behind the state’s major planning reforms and headed up the Premier’s Vibrant City taskforce. Some of the major changes initiated by the taskforce included the establishment of an entrepreneurial hub and activation programs for Adelaide’s riverbank precinct.
The Property Council SA and the Urban Development Institute of Australia SA have both welcomed his new appointment. In a media statement UDIA SA executive director Terry Walsh said Mr Hanlon has “worked well with developers and councils in the past to achieve planning reforms that have enabled successful development in both fringe and infill locations”.
