Samantha Peart has started a new position as global head of sustainability at architecture, design and urban planning practice Hassell, moving over from senior director of special projects at the Victorian Government’s property development agency Development Victoria.
She has led innovation in sustainable design in 20 different countries working in large-scale infrastructure, high-end commercial, residential, healthcare facilities, galleries, retail developments and university campuses.
“What excites me most about this role is ensuring that sustainability practices are in the DNA of Hassell processes,” said Ms Peart. She will be based in Melbourne, Victoria.
Jack Manning has been appointed sustainability leader of Australia at engineering firm Norman Disney and Young. Based in Melbourne he has more than 10 years of experience in the built environment including at the Green Building Council of Australia and most recently at multinational construction company Laing O’Rourke.
Professor Josh Byrne has been appointed Curtin University’s first dean of sustainable futures in the faculty of humanities. He will be based in Perth, WA.
The ABC’s Gardening Australia host is a respected environmental scientist, researcher, author, and sustainability expert with extensive research and industry experience in urban design and development.
“Curtin has an excellent reputation in sustainability across research, teaching and outreach,” Professor Byrne said. “As dean, I am committed to working closely with teaching and research staff, industry and stakeholders to build on this success.”
Chandni Mishra has started at First Sentier Investors as senior manager of corporate sustainability, after serving AMP Capital for more than three years. The Sydney-based project manager has experience in construction and government administration focusing on energy efficiency, environmental awareness, green building, project management, and sustainability.
Sustainable design engineer Tim Bush has been appointed Asia-Pacific sustainability lead of data centre design at Amazon Web Services, after almost six years in sustainability at Norman Disney & Young. Mr Bush has over 15 years of experience in sustainable design and is Melbourne based.
