Today, façade design across Australia is seeing an increased interest as the sticks of legislation and the aspirations of smarter design are improving our industry.
By 2019, the landscape for compliance promises exciting changes to the design and construction of the built environment not seen since the NCC legislative updates of 2010. With the very recent NCC Public Draft now available for comment, it is time to promote better design and adopt better energy efficiency minimum practice. Proposed changes for thermal bridging requirements, building envelope sealing (air tightness) and higher performance in façade design in general mean our industry is ready for change.
Are you ready to take on the challenge, a Building Physics (ESD) superstar in the making? Are you ready to put your experience into practice and embrace the tough conversations to support our industry as we adopt change? Are you ready to play a leadership role, energized and impassioned by the potential to improve the built environment, not just in design but construction too? If yes, we would love to hear from you.
At Inhabit, we like to think we are approaching these challenges differently, partnering with architectural firms, traditional engineers and builders to deliver value, quality and recognition. We are now looking for someone to drive our belief in Sydney and Melbourne, in the position of Senior Building Physics Engineer.
Inhabit is aiming to increase our Building Physics (ESD) presence in the Sydney/Melbourne markets.
To do this, we are looking to put façade design first, and not an afterthought as so often we see in today’s market. Much more than simply generating a number for compliance, façade design is an opportunity to engage in the design process and to manage performance, aesthetic and procurement expectations.
This role (Senior Building Physics Engineer) will be diverse, with a need to utilise business development abilities, leverage existing networks and develop new and rewarding relationships. In tandem with this, you will continue to advise from a consultancy perspective with superior technical skills (condensation, daylight, acoustics, glare, thermal fracture, etc) and commercial acumen (compliance, Green Star, Green Mark, LEED, etc).
Taking projects from early concept through to construction, if you are looking to learn, balance and engage in better design, to create a position for yourself in the fastest growing façade company in Australia, this position may be for you.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Consult with our clients on matters relating to façade design and Building Physics (ESD)
- Contribute to a growing Sydney or Melbourne office through business development
- Supervise the work of assigned graduates and engineers and contribute to their training and development
What are we looking for?
A degree qualification in engineering or sustainability is essential, as is the ambition towards leadership and success within the Industry. The successful candidate will have a strong track record on the Sydney or Melbourne consulting market and have
- A minimum of 5 years of local industry experience in the Australian market with at least 3 years working within an engineering consultancy
- A proven track record working within the ESD and construction sector
- Experience in a wide range of modelling tools, standards and sectors
- Façade awareness and an ability to understand performance challenges beyond a mechanical services brief
- An interest in working in a team leadership position
What’s in it for you?
We will provide all the tools you need for success: regular reviews, access to the most highly sought after projects and the experience of working alongside creative and bright individuals!
You will be rewarded with a competitive salary package and support for further professional development. Remuneration will reflect your level of experience and qualifications.
