CSIRO has announced that after a competitive international search process, Dr Helen Cleugh will be appointed the first director of the CSIRO Climate Science Centre, a research program of about 100 staff working in CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere.
Dr Cleugh is an atmospheric scientist with 30 years of research and leadership experience. She currently leads the Earth Systems Science and Climate Change Hub consortium, funded through the federal government’s National Environmental Science Program.
She will formally take up her new role as leader of the Climate Science Centre on 13 February 2017. Dr Steve Rintoul will continue as interim director until that time.
