Gordon Davis has been announced as chairman and president of conservation organisation Greening Australia, following the current president Rod Douglas announcing his retirement.
Mr Douglas is chair of VicForests and a director of the Nature Conservancy and Nufarm, an agricultural chemical company. He was formerly managing director of AWB.
The changeover be effective at the next annual general meeting in late November 2014.
“Greening Australia has recently transformed its governance arrangements to have a single national, skills-based board, with advisory councils at a regional level, to assist with the implementation of the strategy,” Mr Douglas said. “During that time we have been actively searching for a new chairman and president, and we are delighted to have found a person of Gordon’s calibre.”
Mr Douglas said Mr Davis would be “the ideal leader” to take Greening Australia forward and implement its new Conservation Without Borders strategy.
Greening Australia is, through partnerships with landholders and the broader community, helping to restore landscapes so people and wildlife can co-exist.
