Greater Sydney Commission deputy chief commissioner Geoff Roberts will lead delivery of the Western Sydney City Deal.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the appointment on Monday at the Aerotropolis Investor Forumhosted in Western Sydney.

The news was welcomed by GSC chief commissioner Lucy Turnbull.

“This is a natural progression from the important role he played working with the Australian and NSW Governments and eight local councils in bringing the City Deal to fruition,” Ms Turnbull said.

“This is a well-deserved appointment for Geoff who has been an outstanding advocate for the region, demonstrating tremendous commitment and passion for the potential of the Western Parkland City as a great place to live, learn, work and play.

“Geoff will play a non-partisan role in championing the City Deal and the Western Parkland City including as a member of the City Deal Implementation Board, and Chairing the Western Sydney City Deal Coordination Committee.”

Mr Roberts will retain his roles as deputy chief commissioner and economic commissioner, while continuing to serve as interim Western City district commissioner pending the appointment of a new commissioner later this year.
