5 June 2014 – Gabriell Kuiper has been appointed senior policy officer, Energy + Water Consumers’ Advocacy Program at the Public Interest Advocacy Centre.
Funded primarily by the NSW Public Purpose Fund and the Commonwealth/State Community Legal Services Program, PIAC works on social justice and consumer issues.
A submission Dr Kuiper wrote for the Renewable Energy Target review argued that the RET lowered wholesale electricity prices for all, “whether they’ve got PV (photo voltaic) on the roof or not.”
Dr Kuiper previously worked in the Office of the Prime Minister under Julia Gillard, advising on the climate change, energy and environment portfolios. Previous roles have included head of environmental sustainability for ANZ Bank, environment director with VicUrban, now Places Victoria and sustainability manger for Investa Property Group.
