James Bentley, Dr Georgia Garrard, Dr Sandra Olga Brizga, Katherine Cary and Binda Gokhale have been appointed to Victoria’s Trust for Nature board following a publicly advertised expression of interest process.

Geoff Driver has also been reappointed as a trustee through the expression of interest process.

The Victorian government said the six trustees brought a wealth of experience in conservation, strategic planning, business and financial management, fundraising and philanthropy, and indigenous cultural heritage.

“Trust for Nature plays a vital role in the preservation of Victoria’s environment and I look forward to consulting with the board on future projects,” energy, environment and climate change minister Lily D’Ambrosio said.

The Trust for Nature plays a role in protecting the diverse range of native plants, animals and habitats on private land in perpetuity.

It is also incorporating climate change adaptation and mitigation considerations into its conservation planning and was an important contributor to the development of the government’s Protecting Victoria’s Environment – Biodiversity 2037 plan.

The appointments are until 8 December 2019.
