The former chief technology officer of Microsoft Australia has joined global engineering, planning and design heavyweight Arup as regional leader of digital services across Australasia.
In the role, Mr Stone will provide design, strategy, insight and operational efficiency for clients across the built environment, a release from Arup said.
“In many ways joining Arup brings my career to a full circle, combining my experience in the technology sector with my original practice and passion for design and architecture,” Mr Stone said. “I’m really excited to be joining Arup to lead digital services across the region.”
In addition to the IT industry, Mr Stone has worked in senior leadership roles across manufacturing, the food industry and broken-pack distribution where he introduced telemetry, data analysis, automation and novel distribution solutions.
“I am delighted to welcome Greg on board, to lead our digital services and big data capability across the region,” Arup Australasia chief executive Peter Bailey said. “We’ve been undertaking city and transport digital projects over the last few years, drawing upon our knowledge of the built environment and our leadership in innovation; we’ve been looking to accelerate our capability in this area for some time, and Greg’s appointment will enable us to take the next step in our service capability.”
