Dammika Weerakkody has been appointed national sustainability manager for real estate services company CBRE.
Ms Weerakkody, who will be based in Adelaide, has 25 years’ experience in sustainability and engineering through roles in Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
“Dammika will complement the existing team and drive positive solutions for our clients given her extensive experience with large-scale, portfolio-wide NABERS and BEEC assessments,” CBRE senior director, asset services Michael Hall said.
Ms Weerakkody was most recently at consultancy NettZero, which specialises in NABERS ratings, energy audits and Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) program requirements.
CBRE’s Pacific sustainability director Emma McMahon said the appointment was timely as the CBD program disclosure threshold had reduced from 2000 square metres to 1000 square metres from 1 July, which would see a broader pool of building owners needing support.
