Brett Wickham has been appointed head of ACCIONA’s Australian energy business, taking over from Andrew Thomson.
The news comes as the company confirmed a $75 million loan had been approved to finance the construction and start-up of the 132 megawatt Mt Gellibrand wind farm in Victoria. It also this week made a bold pledge to more than double its renewable assets in the country to more than 500MW.
Mr Wickham has been with ACCIONA since 2006, first as director engineering, construction & operations in Australia, before heading to South Africa as director construction & operations, and then Spain as director projects organisation, where he helped create a new framework for the development of international solar and wind farms around the world.
“I am delighted to be coming back to ACCIONA in this position,” Mr Wickham said.
“It’s a very exciting time in the renewables sector in Australia, with increasing levels of investment and widespread public support for sustainable clean energy technologies.
“I’m looking forward to working with our team, building on our long-term investment in this country and developing new projects.”
