Engineering consultancy Northrop has appointed former Umow Lai sustainability consultant Amir Girgis to lead its sustainability division in Sydney.

Mr Girgis has more than 10 years’ experience in the construction industry, most recently with Umow Lai where he worked on commercial, institutional, residential, industrial and retail projects including the MLC Centre’s retail redevelopment, 56 Clarence St, Legion House and Werrington Park Corporate Centre.

Northrop Sydney regional manager Jamie Shelton said Mr Girgis’s appointment would strengthen the group’s national team and bolster its sustainability offerings across three states.

“Amir is a seasoned sustainability professional with a passion for delivering pragmatic, cost-effective outcomes,” Mr Shelton said. “His technical expertise and commercial acumen will complement our client-focused team.”
