10 June 2014 — Consultancy AECOM has appointed infrastructure specialist and government and industry advisor Joe Langley to its Southern Australian team as technical director – integrated transport and land use.

Mr Langley has over 30 years’ experience in the property development, urban planning and infrastructure planning sectors in Australia and the US, with particular experience in value capture funding for infrastructure projects.

He was formerly project director for the Western Sydney Employment Lands Infrastructure Strategy for the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, and led precinct planning approval studies for the Winten Property Group’s landholdings in the North West Growth Centre.

His appointment follows Norma Shankie-Williams, the former director of metropolitan and regional strategies with the NSW government who joined AECOM in March.

Mr Langley will be based in Sydney, working with advisory, planning and transport teams to accelerate AECOM’s growth in integrated land use, transport planning and urban development.

AECOM managing director, Southern Australia Ian Pitcher said Mr Langley’s experience and knowledge in value capture funding methods would be of particular use.

“As an industry renowned author, Joe is driving the national debate on alternative infrastructure funding strategies for urban renewal and transport projects, and will now help AECOM as we work with our clients to help shape and create connected cities,” Mr Pitcher said.
