The 17: Decent Work and Sustainable Economic Growth Edition

Sustainable News delivered sustainably. The 17 is a News and current affairs show joining conversations going on in boardrooms, class rooms and living rooms around Australia and the world about the Sustainable Development Goals.  Brought to you by the Banksia Foundation and the Business Council for Sustainable Development Australia.

This edition of The 17 will dive off from SDG8 and, using the lens of the recent Australian Government’s 2020 / 21 Budget, explore what is being done and needs to be done in Australia to build sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

Our Expert Panel will be looking at the relatively recent idea that the SDGs can be incorporated into national budgets and budgetary processes, and indeed they must if we are to finance the Global Goals 2030 Agenda. What would that mean for Australia? Are their real life examples of countries doing it? Would it work?
– Mike Burrell, CEO, Sustainable Business Council NZ
– Karen McWilliams, Business Reform Leader, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand
– Elisabeth Hege, Research Fellow, Governance and Financing of Sustainable Development, IDDRI
– Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Agenda
