26 June 2013 — The Victorian Premier’s Sustainability Awards are open for nominations.

Now in their 11th year, the awards celebrate efficient use of water, resources and energy, better waste management and recycling practices, the enhancement of the environment and effective, practical community action.

Last year’s winner, Brightgreen, was a Collingwood business which developed premier LED lighting and was recognised for design of the innovative DR700 – the world’s first LED replacement bulb which matches the total light output of an average 50W halogen while only using one fifth of the power.

Sustainability Victoria chief executive officer Stan Krpan said the awards were a great way to recognise and celebrate leadership in sustainability.

Entries are open in eight categories including infrastructure and buildings, tourism, education, environmental protection, innovative product and services, small and medium enterprises, large business and community.
