20 September 2013 – Geoff Gourley kicked off the Sydney launch of his newly acquired Sustainability Drinks Australia with a talk by Emma Herd, Westpac Corporation’s executive director of emissions & environment.
More than 200 people turned out to gain a peek into the inner workings of a big four bank when it comes to sustainability. Herd’s message was you need to not only an optimist to survive in sustainability but a “pragmatic optimist”.

Gourley is an active participant in the sustainability industry and social entrepreneur. He is Victorian board member of United Nations Association of Australia founder and company director of Shape Our Future and a director of NuGreen Solutions.

He said, “Sydney is the business capital of Australia and it’s my belief through visioning, foster and funding ecological, environmental and sustainable initiatives we can lead, develop and influence business and community toward a more sustainable future.
“Sustainability Drinks Australia has significantly grown from a single event of 10 people to now hosting monthly events in nine cities with more than 10,000 attending since its humble beginnings six years ago.
“We’ve heard from some fascinating speakers and intend to continue the tradition of inviting eco-warriors, sustainability experts and high profile thinkers to our events.”
