23 October 2013 — Stockland has signed on as the first corporate partner of Livable Housing Australia.
LHA is a partnership between community and consumer groups, government and industry that advocates for the adoption of livable housing design principles in all new homes.
The aim is to provide safer, more comfortable and easier to access homes for all life stages.
Chief executive retirement living at Stockland Stephen Bull said the partnership would see a commitment from the company to apply Livable Housing design principles to their entire portfolio of new retirement villas, townhouses and units.
“Livable homes are designed for easy accessibility,” he said.
“Our homes will be designed to be easy to enter, move around in and exit, with smooth transitions between rooms, wide halls and doorways. Our homes will also be capable of easy and cost-effective adaptation in response to the changing needs of residents.”
As a corporate partner, Stockland will also work with LHA to promote new industry best practice benchmarks for livable homes and advocate for the adoption of the voluntary Livable Housing design guidelines.
“As our first Corporate Partner, Stockland will actively contribute to creating Australian homes that are more versatile, easier to access and more livable,” said LHA chair Peter Verwer.
“We congratulate Stockland for its leadership and commitment to working with us to build a better, more livable future for all Australians.”
