11 December 2012 — The ACT Government has appointed a new environment and sustainability commissioner.
Robert Neil, who has been acting in the position for 12 months, has been permanently appointed for a five-year term.
Mr Neil has extensive experience in the ACT Public Service, particularly in the area of environment protection.
Prior to taking up the position of commissioner, Mr Neil held the statutory position of the ACT’s Environment Protection Authority and was director of Environment Protection and Water Resources Regulation.
His responsibilities include environmental monitoring functions and prepares the ACT State of the Environment Report.
Mr Neil replaces Dr Maxine Cooper.
