18 December 2012 — Grattan Institute has appointed business leader and former Sydney Lord Mayor Lucy Turnbull to its board.
Ms Turnbull chairs leading biotechnology company Prima Biomed Limited and other companies in the private and not-for-profit sectors.
She was Sydney’s first female Lord Mayor, in 2003 and 2004, is deputy chair of the Council of Australian Governments’ City Expert Advisory Panel and in 1999 published Sydney – Biography of a City.
Institute chief executive officer John Daley said Ms Turnbull was “a dynamic and respected figure in Australian society, with interest and involvement in everything from art and architecture to health to business”.
In 2011 Ms Turnbull was awarded an Order of Australia for her contribution to the not-for-profit sector and to local government.
She takes up her position in January 2013.
