6 September 2012 — The GPT Group took home three gongs from the 2012 NSW Government’s Green Globe Awards held in Sydney this week.

The awards were for Best Energy Efficiency Strategy, Best Business Sustainability Strategy and Best Built Environment Sustainability Award for GPT’s work environment.

The annual awards are the leading environment awards, recognising environmental excellence, leadership and innovation, in NSW.

GPT’s chief executive officer and managing director Michael Cameron said the company’s integrated approach to sustainability had seen it pioneer a range of strategies that demonstrated success and reset market expectations for what was achievable.

NSW Environment Minister Robyn Parker said the competition for the awards, now in their 13th year, was “truly intense and becoming even more competitive each year”.

The 15 Green Globe Award winners were chosen from a shortlist of 48 finalists who were recognised as the most outstanding entries across the state.

The judging panel was chaired by Dr Ronnie Harding, an expert in environmental management. In late 2004 she retired as director of the Institute of Environmental Studies at UNSW and since that time has held a number of government and non-government organisation advisory positions including as assistant commissioner with the NSW Natural Resources Commission from 2004-2009.
