8 June 2012 – Ed Brown has been appointed existing buildings sector leader for Australia and New Zealand with Davis Langdon based in Melbourne. The move is ahead of the introduction of the carbon price in July and an expected increase in demand for energy efficient buildings as a consequence.
Mr Brown, previously based in the UK where he developed the sustainability services offering for Davis Langdon, part of AECOM, will assist property investors to meet environmental and financial objectives and in procurement “through to ongoing measurement and verification,” a company statement said.
Davis Langdon, managing director Australia New Zealand, Mark Beattie, said: “We anticipate the carbon price and tenant demand for greener buildings will increase demand for carbon efficient existing buildings and drive cost changes.
Mr Brown said: “There are operational costs in buildings that are there to be saved, and these should make attractive investment propositions with good rates of return.”
