6 November 2012 — Law firm DibbsBarker has appointed Cameron Kelly as a special counsel in its national Energy, Resources and Infrastructure Industry Group.
Mr Kelly joins DibbsBarker from King & Wood Mallesons.
Having worked both in Australia and overseas, Mr Kelly’s expertise lies in domestic and international carbon markets and emissions trading, environmental law, renewable energy and projects in the energy and resources sector.
DibbsBarker Energy Team partner Ian Taylor said the firm had been helping clients for a long time “in the renewable energy and sustainability spaces, including several renowned European and Asian companies”.
“With a focus on providing regulatory advice to clients on the carbon pricing mechanism, Cameron’s knowledge and industry experience adds a further dimension to the firm’s established practice,” he said.
Mr Kelly said renewable energy and sustainability were practice areas that would continue to grow into the future regardless of how the political debate affected the carbon pricing mechanism.
“Given that much of the architecture of the Australian carbon pricing mechanism borrows from the European emissions trading scheme, I look forward to using the experience I gained working in Europe and across Asia.”
Mr Kelly will be primarily based in DibbsBarker’s Sydney office.
