11 December 2012 — Cundall, Ryder Architecture, BIM Academy, Mott MacDonald, NBS, Turner + Townsend and Colour Urban Design formed “Team BIM” to win the open BIM Build Qatar Live 2012.

Twelve teams from 41 countries took part in the two-day competition with the brief to design the Museum of Architecture for Doha. The key component of the brief was that the building complied to “Zero Carbon” built environment, in line with the goals of the Qatar Green Building Council and in compliance with LEED and the Qatar Sustainability Assessment System.

The site context for Build Qatar Live consisted of a hypothetical reclamation of land to form a man-made island 120 meters off the coast of Doha, near to Katara Beach.

Cundall Global BIM leader Greame Padgham said the experience had reinforced the company’s recognition for using BIM as a technology to revolutionise the way buildings are designed.
