31 May 2012 – Coles has jumped on the community garden bandwagon with its Coles Junior Landcare Garden Grants for schools, preschools, kindergartens and community groups.

The final round of grants close on July 27, with offer of up to $1000 to help set up gardens in communities and school grounds.

Previous grant recipients have used the money to grow vegetables, herbs and bush tucker, create water wise and multicultural gardens and carry out worm farm, composting and recycling projects, a Coles statement said.

Also working on greening the community is the GPT Group which has a long-term partnership with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation.
