11 December 2012 — A free Climate Change Adaptation Toolkit has been developed by the Net Balance Foundation in partnership with the City of Greater Geelong and RMIT University.
The toolkit follows the release of the Climate Institute report Coming Ready or Not: Managing climate risks to Australia’s infrastructure.
The report found Australia was underprepared for the impacts of climate change in key sectors such as road, rail and electricity. It said there was a danger for infrastructure sectors through “maladaptation” or counterproductive actions resulting in unnecessary costs, risk and impacts to business, government and the community.
Net Balance associate director Christophe Brulliard said Australia was not immune to the impacts of climate change, and there was much that needed to be done to minimise the potential consequences of climate change impacts.
“The Climate Change Adaptation Toolkit outlines a practical process for exploring climate change risks and developing robust adaptation actions,” he said.
