28 November 2012 — Cbus Property has appointed Brookfield Multiplex to design and construct its 720 Bourke Street development in Melbourne.

The 16-level commercial office building, in the Docklands, was designed by Hassell Architects.

Features include extensive planting covering large components of the facade through a series of vertical planters, planted terraces and green walls.

Brookfield Multiplex Victorian regional managing director Graham Milford-Cottam said the level of greenery in the building would set a new benchmark for the design of future commercial developments.

The A Grade development will target a Six Star Green Star Office v3 rating and 5 Star NABERS Commercial Building rating with a construction value of $220 million.

720 Bourke Street will have a central atrium extending through all floors delivering natural light while ecologically sustainable development features will include recycled water use, a 230,000 litre storage tank for rainwater catchment, a building management system, timer controlled mechanical and electrical systems and an under floor air distribution system.

Construction has just started and is expected to be completed in mid-2014.
