6 November 2012 — Bond University Research Centre for Sustainable Healthy Communities is undertaking research exploring the influence of green versus non-green work environments on the physical and mental wellbeing of occupants.

Humanities and Social Sciences fourth year psychology student Lauren Dearlove said few studies had investigated employees’ health in green work environments and “virtually no studies have gone one step deeper, looking at the wellbeing of employees in green versus non-green office buildings”.

“We anticipate that the results of this research will be useful for green building industry practitioners, business managers, occupants and health professionals as it is likely to deepen their understanding of green workplace environments and their impact on employees.”

Ms Dearlove said she hoped office workers would fill out a survey to “help us understand what people value about their work environments and improve future workplaces”.
