1 August 2013 — Former Greens leader Bob Brown has been announced as the patron of the 2013 Environmental Film Festival Melbourne.
“I am thrilled to be a patron of EFFM and to see a focus on Australian films,” Dr Brown said. “EFFM gives Australians a glimpse into the most pertinent environmental issues and reminds us that these issues are not all happening in faraway places, they are happening right here on our doorstep – and, it’s time for all Australians to be a part of the solution.”
Opening night features Hidden Valley and Mining The Truth, two Australian shorts and world cinematic premieres linked by their exploration into the lives of mining communities in Papua New Guinea and Australia, followed by Bob Brown in conversation with the filmmakers.
The festival will be held on 5-13 September at Kino Cinemas in Collins Place, Melbourne.
