11 December 2012 — The Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Airconditioning and Heating, with the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, is developing a discussion paper to examine how the industry can make the transition to low emission practices and technologies.
The project follows an AIRAH Industry Summit held in March 2012. The final discussion paper and draft roadmap will form the basis of a second AIRAH industry summit in 2013.
AIRAH chief executive officer Phil Wilkinson said the purpose of the project was to facilitate industry discussions around the development of a roadmap outlining a series of actions that the key HVAC&R industry stakeholders agree need to be taken by the sector to reduce emissions.
“The outcome is a discussion paper that explores the key issues and proposes a draft ‘Roadmap’ outlining the pathways and key actions that the industry needs to take to assist the transition to low emission technologies and practices.
“The discussion paper and development process and the draft roadmap will form the basis of an industry summit to further discuss, refine and implement the agreed actions.”
